  • Overview

    The Quality Control Technician is responsible for carrying out i3’s Quality Plan at multiple stages throughout the manufacturing process. The Quality Control Technician must have experience with AS9100 specification. Must have the skillset to use handheld metrology tools with the ability to learn new technologies. This position is located in Huntsville, AL and supports the Hypersonic Design and Systems Integration business unit. 

    Responsibilities

    • Help implement and maintain AS9100 certification
    • Understand GD&T
    • Understand how to follow QMS procedures
    • Must be able to Physically and Visually inspect hardware and assemblies
    • Monitor and verify that product quality is in accordance with engineering drawings, work instructions, and other control procedures
    • Perform task in accordance with property, quality, and regulatory requirements
    • Perform various daily housekeeping tasks, responsible for maintaining work and storage areas in a neat and orderly fashion
    • Participates in team activities and provides expertise and guidance for effective problem-resolution
    • Maintains necessary inspection documentation, writes inspection reports, and enters inspection data and defect information into a computer database
    • Perform other various administrative duties as needed, assigned and/or required to meet the ongoing needs of the organization.
    • Determines work procedures to expedite work flow.
    • Calibrate tools following manufacturing and organizational procedures regarding calibration schedules, and record all calibration activities to reflect compliance with policies and procedures.

    Qualifications

    • High School Diploma or Equivalent with at least 4 years of related work experience.
    • Ability to deal with physical demands to include Manufacturing environment, walking, bending, stooping, and lifting inventory items up to and at times exceeding 50 pounds with appropriate safety requirements.
    • Detail oriented with excellent verbal and written communication skills, analytical skills, ability to apply logic with good follow through, and leadership skills.
    • Previous experience operating a forklift preferred.
    • Previous tool calibration experience preferred.
    • Must be reliable and responsible with abilities to work independently and commitment to work weekends and any overtime as needed.
    • Ability to pass a drug and background screening.
    • Ability to obtain and maintain a Government Security Clearance.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 

    • Ability to enter data accurately into databases, follow processes, perform basic mathematical computations, and write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to learn and understand corporate policies
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
    • Ability to multi-task and perform duties with minimal supervision.
    • High degree of self-motivation, independent work skills, excellent interpersonal skills, customer service skills, trustworthy, and effective oral and written communication skills.
    • Ability to detect unobvious facts and issues, good use of analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data and consider decision impact across multiple areas, and exercise resourcefulness in resolving problems.
    • Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills; ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions. Must be able to communicate all decisions and issues to Management.
    • Intermediate computer skills, specifically using Microsoft Office Suite with an ability to learn additional skills and software programs.
