Overview

i3 is seeking a System Administrator to support a test and integration lab for the Army’s new Mobile Mission Command (MMC) software development effort. MMC is the planned direct replacement for the currently fielded Joint Battle Command Platform (JBC-P) system. The selected applicant will provide onsite Windows, Linux and VMware system administration and troubleshooting support in a test and integration lab as part of the software development, test, and integration team. The selected candidate will assist a Senior Systems Administrator in the configuration and maintenance of a complex tactical and commercial computer systems and devices. This position is located at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL. 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as assistant to the System Administrator
  • Conduct day-to-day system administration of the hardware and software in a software test and integration lab
  • Provides hands-on system administration support, system maintenance and operations support
  • Build, configure, and troubleshoot software and hardware enhancements, application deployments and infrastructure up-grades
  • Diagnoses and corrects computer, server and network system issues
  • Initiates customer contact, escalates to appropriate parties and resolve incidents
  • Responds to technical issues as they arise
  • Perform other IT duties as assigned
  • Hands on support of COMSEC and CCI equipment

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited academic institution in a relevant technical discipline with 3 - 10 years of relevant technical experience. This may be substituted with an Associate’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience or 9 years overall relevant technical experience with a High School diploma.
  • Experience or training setting up and maintaining Windows, Linux and VMware operating systems and related hardware.
  • Must be able to obtain a DOD Secret Clearance with the ability to qualify for SSBI Secret.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills.
  • Customer focused with a desire to ensure success.
  • Desire to continue to learn and grow.

Certifications:

  • CompTIA Security+ or similar security certification(s) highly preferred.
  • Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or similar highly preferred.
  • Candidate must have or obtain cyber security qualifications IAW DoD 8570 standards upon employment.

Additional Desired Skill Sets:

  • Active DOD Secret Clearance with the ability to qualify for SSBI Secret highly preferred.
  • Experience implementing DoD STIGs.
  • Experience with the DoD Risk Management Framework (RMF).
  • Experience or training as a Red Hat Certified system administrator.
  • Experience or training with VMware, ESXi, or vCenter.
  • Experience with military tactical communications.
  • Experience with COMSEC and CCI equipment.
  • Ability to present architectural design using Microsoft Tools (Visio, Project, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Experience providing Help Desk Support/IT Support.
