Overview

i3 is seeking a Project Engineer to support the PM UAS BMD Product Office (PO). The Project Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and leadership in Defense Acquisition. Candidates should have excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.  This position will be located at Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, AL. 

Responsibilities

  • Ability to provide technical and programmatic support across multiple systematic engineering needs (risks, requirements, processes, etc.).
  • Liaise between the technical staff to improve and optimize UAS products.
  • Ensure consistent standards of risk management are applied across the UAS Project Office portfolio in part by supporting / reviewing / approving Risk Management Plans developed by the Product Offices.
  • Help development efficient means by which product office risk managers can accurately report risk, issues, and opportunities while minimizing purely administrative tasks.
  • Support Risk Management processes to include execution of IBRs, development / assessment of Integrated Master Schedules, and Cost Performance Report assessment.
  • Support Risk Management IPTs to identify / quantify risks and investigate mitigation planning methods and resource requirements.
  • Liaise with, and guide senior management and product level managers about the current and potential risks through reports, documentation and presentations periodically.
  • Proactively advise product offices on successful mitigation and reporting strategies implemented by sister product offices.
  • Be the Subject Matter Expert in utilizing the PEO M&S/PEO Aviation RIO tool.
  • Develop and implement technical solutions to complex, multi-disciplined technical challenges.
  • Monitor cost, schedule, and performance for technical activities within the UAS product office.  
  • Lead team in managing internal team and contractor progress within estimated time frames and budget constraints.
  • Prepare and present technical and programmatic briefings to management, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Assist in the development of milestone and technical documentation for contract requirements packages and various contracting and acquisition strategies.
  • Execute program goals and work within a multi-disciplinary team to achieve these goals.
  • Assist in the development of integrated master schedules, strategic roadmaps, and milestone and technical documentation for contract requirements packages and various contracting and acquisition strategies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's of Science required with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience preferred. 
  • Product Level Management Experience under an ACAT I or II program preferred. 
  • Experience in related field of expertise at the program level, ideally in providing programmatic and/or systems engineering/integration support to major DoD acquisition activities.
  • Experience in the development, testing, fielding/training, and sustainment phases of system’s life cycle.
  • Thorough knowledge of Federal Acquisition Regulations, Contracts/Subcontracts terminology and business practices.
  • Experience administering various contract types (Cost Plus Fixed Fee, Cost Plus Incentive Fee, Firm Fixed Price).
  • Demonstrated experience working individually as well as organizing and facilitating working groups.
  • Must be able to prepare detailed written reports and briefings (using Microsoft PowerPoint) suitable for presentation to senior level military and corporate leadership, as well as present material orally.
  • Must have a strong understanding of Army Acquisition processes, Milestone Documentation, and program decision process.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to use Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Must have the ability to work in a teaming environment and have the personality to interface with numerous Government and contractor personnel in a rapid paced environment.
  • Knowledge of the acquisition process including development, test & evaluation, contracting, production, and fielding
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Professional experience using Microsoft Office applications to include Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, and Word 
  • Candidate must possess strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter that thrives in a dynamic team environment.
  • Candidate must possess a proven ability to develop and provide reports to management.
  • US Citizenship is required.
  • Currently possess or can obtain a DoD Secret Security clearance.
  • May require travel up to 20%.
