Overview

i3 is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to lead our AI initiatives. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving our AI strategy, overseeing research and development, and implementing cutting-edge AI solutions that align with i3 and customer goals. This role is critical in ensuring we maintain a competitive edge in the field of AI and machine learning.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the i3’s AI strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and technology roadmaps.
  • Oversee research and development of AI models and algorithms, focusing on scalable solutions and innovation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, data science, product management) to integrate AI solutions into products and services.
  • Manage and mentor a team of AI researchers, engineers, and data scientists, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Drive partnerships with academic institutions and industry leaders to stay at the forefront of AI developments.
  • Ensure ethical and responsible AI practices are implemented across projects.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and improve the performance of AI models, ensuring data security and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Prepare and manage budgets related to AI initiatives, optimizing resources for maximum impact.

Qualifications

  • PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in AI, machine learning, or data science, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven expertise in machine learning, deep learning, natural language processing, and/or computer vision.
  • Strong programming skills, with experience in languages and frameworks commonly used in AI (e.g., Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Demonstrated success in leading and delivering complex AI projects from inception to deployment.
  • Strong knowledge of data management, model deployment, and AI systems scalability.
  • DoD Secret Security Clearance required.

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in DoD and private sector customer spaces.
  • Record of publications or patents in AI, machine learning, or data science.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to present complex AI topics to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
