Overview

i3 is seeking an MJAT Software Tester to support U.S. Air Force, Marine, and Foreign Military Sales (FMS) MQ-9 Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) training systems and future RPA development efforts. In this role, the selected candidate will validate software solutions at both the component and system levels to ensure compliance with customer, stakeholder, and engineering requirements. The selected candidate will also develop and execute test procedures to verify system performance using hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) RPA configurations and work hands-on with MQ-9 ground systems in a laboratory environment located in Huntsville, AL. This position involves daily interaction with complex RPA systems and offers the opportunity to contribute directly to mission-critical training and development programs. 

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and execute comprehensive developmental test cases for new and modified software components and subsystems, aligned with system and customer requirements.
  • Analyze test results and identify software anomalies; document and communicate findings to software developers, systems engineers, and program management for resolution and tracking.
  • Participate in Agile software life cycle processes, including SCRUM ceremonies and cyber-resilient feature implementations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the project office, to include software development, integration, and System Engineering teams.
  • Assist senior software and systems engineers in planning and executing software release cycles, ensuring traceability and compliance with program milestones.
  • Contribute to the evolution and enforcement of internal quality assurance, reliability engineering, and configuration management protocols.
  • Execute assigned tasks with minimal supervision, exercising sound technical judgment and decision-making within defined project scopes.
  • Monitor/utilize development tools to update tasks/test cases, conduct work item check-ins, and implement test case version control.
  • Evaluate existing test procedures and processes, proposing enhancements and driving continuous improvement initiatives in alignment with project objectives. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems) with a minimum of 3 years of hands-on software testing experience; equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Experience with testing Linux systems and software applications.
  • Familiarity with cloud-native and containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) is preferred but not required.
  • Possession of CompTIA Security+ and/or Network+ certifications preferred,
  • Practical experience using Agile test management and tracking tools, such as Azure DevOps, Jira, and Kanban is preferred.
  • Able to work in a high-tempo, iterative development environment, collaborating closely with developers, integrators, and systems engineers.
  • Possession of strong analytical mindset with the ability to perform root cause analysis and assess software/system behaviors.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
