Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Facility Design and Construction Supervisor to oversee all aspects of the design, construction, and coordination of the SWIF-International facility. The successful candidate will lead a team of professionals, manage budgets, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain a safe and efficient work environment. This role requires a strong leader with a proven track record in managing complex construction projects, facility maintenance, and infrastructure support. The Supervisor will serve as a key point of contact between company team members and outside contractors, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while proactively addressing ongoing facility needs. This is a part-time position. 

Responsibilities

  • Coordinating facility activities, which may include general repairs and maintenance, construction, relocation, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, security and alarm systems, telecommunications systems, utilities, painting, patching, pest control, janitorial, signage, furniture and equipment setups, and cubicle reconfiguration.  
  • Provide executive leadership and oversight for the entire design and construction process, from initial planning and design to final completion and commissioning. 
  • Supervise, mentor, and manage a team of architects, engineers, contractors, facility management staff, and other subject matter experts involved in the design, construction, and maintenance process. Allocate work effectively, monitor performance, and provide guidance and council on performance and administrative issues. 
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for infrastructure support services and facility maintenance to maintain secure, functional, and efficient work environments throughout the construction and future operation of the facility. Identifies facility needs, and obtains necessary details to develop proper solutions and identify vendors for implementation. 
  • Develop and manage project budgets and building equipment maintenance schedules, ensuring cost-effective resource allocation and adherence to financial constraints. Develop and utilize metrics to review and measure team performance against schedule and cost objectives. Obtain proposals and quotes from vendors, negotiate for best value, and work with Procurement and Accounts Payable to issue purchase orders and payments as needed. 
  • Ensure all design, construction, and facility maintenance activities comply with relevant local, national, and international regulations, codes, and standards, including ADA and OSHA regulations. 
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with the construction project and ongoing facility operations, ensuring a safe and secure work environment for all personnel. Manage building and equipment maintenance schedules and run tests on building security systems. 
  • Effectively communicate project status, progress, and challenges to senior management, stakeholders, and other relevant parties. Handle building equipment emergencies and communicate as the focal point between company team members and outside contractors called in to fix problems. 
  • Implement and maintain rigorous quality control processes to ensure the highest standards of workmanship and materials are met throughout the construction and ongoing facility maintenance process. Organize, schedule, and document work activities; review activity progress, and assure completion. Identify cost-effective solutions in all activities, while maintaining quality and timeliness. 
  • Oversee the implementation of a comprehensive protection program for the facility, including physical security, access control, and emergency response procedures.  
  • Develop and implement Continuity of Operations (COOP) plans and Emergency Operations Management procedures to ensure the facility can maintain operations in the event of disruptions and participate in the creation of action plans in preparation for emergencies. 
  • Identify and coordinate training needs and requirements for facility management staff to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively. 
  • Perform handyman tasks and physical hands-on work including minor repairs, installations, hanging items, and moving furniture and equipment. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Facilities Management, or a related field required.  
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing large-scale construction projects and ongoing facility maintenance, preferably with international components. 
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and managing teams of professionals. 
  • Strong knowledge of construction regulations, codes, and standards, including ADA and OSHA regulations. 
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. 
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and meet project deadlines. 
  • Experience in developing and implementing security and protection programs. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance. 
  • U.S. Citizenship is required. 
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.  
  • Experience with international construction, specific building types, or technologies is a plus.
