Overview

i3 is seeking a detail-oriented and security-driven Cybersecurity Analyst and Data Transfer Officer to support our cybersecurity operations and data protection practices. This hybrid role bridges real-time threat monitoring with secure data handling — ideal for a candidate looking to grow in both cyber defense and compliance-driven environments.

 

You’ll be part of a team responsible for monitoring security alerts, investigating incidents, and ensuring data is transferred in accordance with government regulations. Your work will directly contribute to the company’s ability to meet CMMC 2.0/ NIST 800-171 and RMF/ NIST 800-53 requirements, adhering to the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM, 32 CFR 117) and the Defense Counter-Intelligence and Security Agency (DCSA) Assessment and Authorization Process Manual (DAAPM)

 

This role is critical to protecting sensitive information and maintaining compliance with cybersecurity standards and DoD data handling requirements.

 

This position is located at the i3 Corporate Office in Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and log data transfers between classified and unclassified environments in accordance with security policies.
  • Review and verify data for compliance, sensitivity, and file format prior to transfer.
  • Coordinate with security personnel, IT teams, and program leads to ensure authorized and approved transfers.
  • Maintain accurate transfer logs and audit records for compliance and review.
  • Support inspections, audits, and security assessments related to data handling.
  • Monitor and report any anomalies or attempted unauthorized transfers.
  • Provide guidance to end users on proper data transfer procedures.
  • Monitor and respond to security alerts through SIEM tools (e.g., Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel)
  • Triage and escalate suspicious activity or verified threats
  • Analyze network, system, and endpoint logs to identify anomalies
  • Assist with phishing investigations, malware detection, and threat analysis
  • Support the implementation of incident response plans and contribute to lessons-learned documentation
  • Participate in vulnerability management processes and compliance tracking
  • Contribute to the tuning of security tools, establishing and utilizing baselines to develop alerting for anomalous activity
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • Active Secret Clearance and ability to maintain an Active Secret Clearance
  • 1–3 years of experience in IT security, SOC environments, or classified operations
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity principles and network fundamentals
  • Familiarity with RMF, eMASS, data labeling, and cross-domain transfer tools
  • Understanding of data formats, removable media, and file security tools
  • Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and process follow-through
  • Effective communication skills and ability to support both technical and non-technical user

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in a cleared facility (SCIF/SAPF/Collateral)
  • Experience or familiarity of SIEM’s (Splunk, Sentinel), EDR Solutions (Sophos, Trellix), Vulnerability Management tools (Nessus/Tenable), Networking Configuration and logs (Cisco, Palo Alto)
  • Familiarity with classified IT environments and government compliance frameworks (e.g., RMF, DAAPM, NIST 800-53)
  • Familiarity with unclassified IT environments and government compliance frameworks (NIST 800-171, CMMC, DFARS)
  • Experience working in defense or government contracting environments

  • Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
