Overview

i3 has an exciting opportunity for an Electrical Engineer Intern to support the Naval Research Laboratory, Tactical Electronic Warfare Division. TEWD’s mission is to protect the warfighter from emerging threats by advancing electronic warfare (EW) through RDT&E of current and future technologies. This position is for the Fall 2025 internship.

Responsibilities

  • Contributing team members in the research, design, development, test, and analysis of EW subsystems, specifically electronic support measures (ESM).
  • Design and develop hardware, software, and firmware.
  • Develop and implement algorithms for use in ESM applications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Current student status at an ABET-accredited university working towards a degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, physics, or related field.
  • Proficient in a computer programming language (e.g. C/C++, Python, etc.).
  • Experience and/or classwork designing and testing electronic and digital circuits.
  • Experience debugging software.
  • Knowledge of digital signal processing.
  • Experience with MATLAB in simulation and data analysis.
  • U.S. Citizenship required.

Desired:

  • Knowledge of radar and communication systems.
  • Experience with electronic test equipment.

Security Clearance:

  •  Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required
