Senior Machinist

i3 is looking for a Senior Machinist to join our growing team in Huntsville, AL. 

• Interface directly with customer and read engineering drawings to produce unique precision parts to contribute to a variety of projects in an ever changing, rapid paced R&D environment.
• Set up, install and operate machine tool equipment for fabrication operations (including but not limited to band saw, lathes, drill presses, milling machines and or surface grinders).
• Set up and operate multi-purpose computerized numerically-controlled (CNC) machines to perform any combination of machining operations.
• Obtain quotes for hardware/software/machinery/tools/etc. and assist when needed with building modifications and renovations.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience

• Associate’s degree in relevant field is required. Additional experience may substitute for degree.
• Minimum 20 years of relevant experience.
• Prior experience reading engineering drawings and CAD models to produce unique precision part is required.
• Prior experience in programing, setup, and operation of a variety of machines including 3-axis CNC mills, CNC mill-turns, manual mills and manual lathes is required.
• Active DoD security clearance and the ability to maintain clearance is required.
• U. S. Citizenship is required.

Knowledge/Skills

• Program using MasterCam CAD/CAM Software or ESPRIT CAD/CAM Software
• Proficiency in MAZAK 2-axis Lathes, 2-axis Live Tooling Slant-Turn Lathe, 3-axis Live Tooling Lathes, 3-axis Vertical Machining Centers, 4-Axis Machining Centers, Integrex Mill-Turn Centers--e670H and i400S
• Proficiency in MAZAK Smooth-G, Smooth-X, Smooth-C, SMART, MATRIX
• Experience with government purchasing systems (e.g, PURS, CHESS)
• Maintain a forklift and tactical vehicle license.
• Exceptional judgment capabilities and relationship management skills.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and client service skills; ability to clearly communicate in discussions and written documents, and to deliver feedback clearly and tactfully.
• Interact with a diverse array of customers and staff in a professional and courteous manner.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
• Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
