Overview

i3 is looking for an Associate Security Specialist . This role is within the Integrated Fires Security Office, PAE FIRES Reveille Forge Facility, providing security assistance and training on the information, physical, personnel and industrial security programs. The team member will educate users, visitors, and assigned personnel as required by the security education program.  He/she will be responsible for the disarming and arming of the Open Storage facility using an Intrusion Detection System (IDS) monitored alarm. The team member will respond to IDS Alarms to determine if the alarm was an anomaly, false alarm or unauthorized access to the facility. his position is in Huntsville, AL.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a Security Specialist for the Information Security Program; subject matter expert for the Security Requirements within the program, advising personnel on technical security issues up to and including Secret level; and to improve the program conditions contributing to an increased efficiency/effectiveness of the mission accomplishment.
  • Assists in developing instructions and oversees implementation of the policies and procedures established by higher authority.
  • Applies security principles, techniques, and procedures for safeguarding classified information.
  • Interprets U.S. law and executive orders pertinent to the specific security area. Ensures users comply with component, DoD, and installation regulations, based on existing support agreements.
  • Reports suspected infractions and enforces the security policies and regulations throughout the Reveille Forge enclave in such a manner as to meet or exceed higher authority requirements; incidents falling under the investigative jurisdiction of other investigative services are immediately referred to the Security Manager for action.
  • Administers the programs for classification, declassification, and downgrading of information. Conducts inspections and audits to ensure compliance and provides assistance to the Security Manager.
  • Gathers information, records, and reports threats to information security, compromises, and other security violations through the Security Manager.
  • Conducts inspections to ensure compliance.
  • Organizes, administers, and conducts training in security functions supporting the headquarters security programs.
  • Receives, transmits, and processes Visit Access Requests (VARs) using the Defense Information System for Security (DISS). Verifies and validates security clearances, develops, and maintains access rosters to support various classified activities and events at the facility.
  • Serves as program assistant for the SIPRNET PKI token program.
  • Applies personnel security standards IAW AR 25-2 for access to IT systems; security standards to the transmission of classified and controlled unclassified information; and the labeling, marking, control, storage and destruction of classified/sensitive media and equipment IAW AR 25-2 and AR 380-5.
  • Assists with ensuring all personnel have a favorably adjudicated personnel security investigations/clearances of newly assigned personnel accessing the Reveille Forge information systems.
  • Knowledge of a wide range of security concepts, principles, and practices primarily related to Information Security, Personnel Security, Physical Security, Industrial Security and Security Education and training programs related to those disciplines, to report and assists the Security Manager with reviewing, analyzing, and resolving difficult and complex security problems. The solutions developed often result in new methods, approaches, or procedures.
  • Ability to apply a wide range of security functional area knowledge to assist the Security Manager with the unique organizational security problems.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
