Overview

i3 is seeking a Structures Engineer to join our team and support a critical government program office by providing technical oversight of OEM structural testing activities and ensuring the integrity, compliance, and airworthiness of advanced aerospace systems.

Responsibilities

As a Structures Engineer, your duties will include the following, but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical oversight and evaluation of OEM structural test plans, procedures, and schedules to ensure compliance with government requirements
  • Analyze structural test data and independently assess results, preparing briefings, reports, and risk assessments for program leadership
  • Collaborate with government engineers, OEMs, and cross-functional Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to resolve technical challenges and ensure program alignment
  • Develop and review technical documentation including test evaluations, system procedures, and engineering assessments
  • Support structural testing activities by witnessing static, dynamic, and fatigue tests and ensuring adherence to approved methodologies
  • Engage with stakeholders and leadership through technical working groups, providing subject matter expertise and guidance on structural systems
  • Identify technical risks related to airframe structures and develop mitigation strategies to support program execution and airworthiness certification
  • Support program execution through planning, coordination, and Earned Value Management (EVM) responsibilities as a control account manager

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Additional years of experience may be substituted for degree.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in aerospace structural engineering or related field.
  • Experience supporting structural analysis, test evaluation, and airworthiness or certification activities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working in DoD, federal, or aerospace engineering environments.
  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Secret clearance required. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DoD or Federal programs, particularly Army or aviation programs.
  • Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools and structural analysis methods.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, OEMs, and government stakeholders.
  • Strong technical documentation, briefing, and reporting experience.
  • Familiarity with systems engineering, airworthiness certification, and structural test methodologies.
  • Advanced degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or related field; experience with MBSE tools (e.g., 3DX) preferred.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
