Overview

i3 is seeking a Systems Engineer to support the TUAS Product Office. This position will provide systems engineering, integration, technical, operational, and sustainment support for Tactical Uncrewed Aircraft Systems, with a focus on ensuring technical sufficiency, lifecycle engineering rigor, and effective coordination across program stakeholders.


The Systems Engineer will support development, integration, operational and technical support, and sustainment activities for the TUAS Product Office. The candidate will provide technical input to trade studies, contract requirements packages, performance and system specifications, statements of work, and other program documentation.
This role includes supporting Model Based Systems Engineering tools and compliance with Modular Open Systems Approach principles. The candidate will provide subject matter expertise on MBSE and MOSA, including use of SysML within Cameo software tools, and will participate in PM UAS Family of Systems architecture and modeling efforts.


The Systems Engineer will coordinate with TUAS personnel, PM UAS and PEO functionals and staff, prime contractors and suppliers, user representatives, Army airworthiness personnel, and other stakeholders. The candidate will establish and monitor cost, schedule, and performance for systems engineering activities across the product life cycle.


The successful candidate will demonstrate strong engineering judgment, technical problem-solving ability, communication skills, and the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams. The candidate should be able to provide technical oversight of contracted work, lead Integrated Product Teams and working groups, analyze contractor performance, identify risks, develop courses of action and mitigations, and provide recommendations during all phases of the systems engineering process and product life cycle.

Responsibilities

  • Support systems engineering, integration, technical, operational, and sustainment activities within the TUAS Product Office.
  • Support development, integration, operational and technical support, and sustainment for Tactical Uncrewed Aircraft Systems.
  • Ensure technical sufficiency of input to trade studies, stakeholder coordination, and program documentation.
  • Provide technical input to contract requirements packages, performance and system specifications, statements of work, and related documentation.
  • Support use of Model Based Systems Engineering tools and compliance with Modular Open Systems Approach principles.
  • Provide subject matter expertise on MOSA and MBSE utilizing SysML within Cameo software tools.
  • Participate in PM UAS Family of Systems architecture and modeling efforts.
  • Coordinate effectively with TUAS personnel, PM UAS and PEO functionals and staff, prime contractors and suppliers, user representatives, Army airworthiness personnel, and other stakeholders.
  • Establish and monitor cost, schedule, and performance for systems engineering activities across the life cycle.
  • Prepare and deliver reports and briefings to senior management describing program status, issues, analyses, findings, results, recommendations, and conclusions.
  • Provide technical oversight of contracted work during all phases of the systems engineering process and product life cycle.
  • Lead Integrated Product Teams, working groups, and technical coordination meetings.
  • Analyze contractor performance and identify risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Develop courses of action, mitigations, and technical recommendations to support program execution.
  • Support engineering decision-making across development, integration, testing, fielding, product improvement, and sustainment activities.
  • Work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic government program office environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering and at least five (5) years of relevant systems engineering, aviation, defense, acquisition, or technical program experience.
  • Experience supporting systems engineering, integration, technical support, operational support, or sustainment activities.
  • Experience supporting trade studies, technical documentation, performance specifications, system specifications, statements of work, or contract requirements packages.
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering concepts, tools, or processes.
  • Understanding of Modular Open Systems Approach principles.
  • Ability to coordinate technical activities with government personnel, contractors, suppliers, user representatives, and technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to establish, monitor, or support cost, schedule, and performance of technical activities.
  • Ability to prepare and deliver technical reports, briefings, analyses, findings, recommendations, and conclusions.
  • Ability to provide technical oversight of contracted work.
  • Ability to support risk identification, mitigation development, and courses of action.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and task management skills.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Active DoD Secret security clearance is required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting Tactical Uncrewed Aircraft Systems or other uncrewed aviation platforms.
  • Experience supporting a Program Management Office or Product Office environment.
  • Experience supporting Army aviation, Army airworthiness, PM UAS, PEO Aviation, or related defense aviation programs.
  • Experience with SysML and Cameo software tools.
  • Experience applying MOSA principles to system architecture, integration, or acquisition activities.
  • Experience participating in Family of Systems architecture or modeling efforts.
  • Experience leading Integrated Product Teams, working groups, or technical coordination meetings.
  • Experience analyzing contractor performance and providing technical oversight.
  • Experience developing engineering courses of action, mitigations, and recommendations.
  • Experience preparing senior-level program reports or technical briefings.
  • Experience supporting acquisition documentation, performance specifications, system specifications, or statements of work.
  • Experience monitoring cost, schedule, and performance for systems engineering efforts.

  • Regular i3 hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, however, additional hours may be required on occasion. Regular and punctual attendance is required.
